Where am I going?
I look into the mirror. I see many things, writer, Christian, girl, love, hate, hope, student, daughter. Where am I going? The last year of Jr. High is here; in fact it’s half over. I watch as my class mates, who I’ve known all my life, change. I’m changing too. Few things seem sure.
I will take writing classes. I will take history, and science, I will avoid math as usual. I won’t lose my God to the rushing world as I bump shoulders with the diverse crowd that is society. Right and wrong will never merge for me. They are separate. They are choices. So which one will I be?
I will be loyal to my family and my friends. I will be brave for those who need me. I will be smart, witty, and fierce, I will be me. I will be respectful, responsible, resourceful, and hopefully helpful.
After High School I will go to LCU majoring Journalism, or English. I will learn French and Greek. I will see Europe, I will smell the fresh pine of Washington, see the tall sky line of New York. I will taste many things, meet many people, and have a couple of rainy days on the way.
I will write for a paper. I will finish my book, get published, get married, get settled, and have kids. Make a difference in this breaking world. Preserve the pieces of humanity and nature that I can.
I will leave Illinois and the endless fields of corn and cow pastures. Leave to somewhere near the mountains, the sea, or forests. I will take my family with me to my haven, my new home. I will teach my children about God. I’ll be unswerving loyal to my mother, father, and brother
I will look in the mirror and see someone worth knowing, worth love and respect. I will see me.
